Over the past year, we’ve realized just how unreasonable some people can be after they’ve purchased a Groupon or Living Social voucher. We’ve seen parents try to force their newborn infants to smile and change clothes in 30 minutes (unfair), people who want headshots that try to squeeze in a few extra different looks not highlighted in their voucher (taking advantage), people who blame us because they are not photogenic (sorry), clients who want us to perform plastic surgery on their touchups, and those who come into our studio 30 minutes late for a 30 minute shoot and throw a tantrum when we tell them that they have to reschedule. More commonly, we’ve experienced people who demand that we shoot within days after they bought a voucher that 400 other people bought. And, when we can’t bow down to ridiculous demands, we are threatened by their slander on Yelp.
We refuse to McDonaldize our art any longer and have shut down physically, spiritually, and mentally. Our LOFT 207 studio is officially closed after we finish shooting with the remaining 10 people on our schedule. We’ve shot close to 1200 out of over 2000 vouchers that were sold and now we want the remaining people to get their money back ASAP from Groupon or Living Social. We will deal with Groupon and Living Social on our end, but you should probably know that there have been countless articles written about how such deal buying companies have led to the closure of many long standing companies. Our LOFT 207 Studio has suffered a great deal, after Groupon/ Living Social took 50% of what you paid for your voucher, all this stress isn’t worth it anymore. We started this in hopes of gaining repeat loyal customers, but all our customers ever say is: “We love your work & would love to work with you again! When are you running another deal on Groupon or Living Social?”
The vanity, voucher abuse, obsession, lack of effort in learning how to pose/prepare/ or take responsibility for their shoots, and the outright arrogant, outlandish, false, divafied cheap behavior have come through our studio, murdered our spirits, and sucked our energy dry. So, you can say whatever you want about us on Yelp, but one thing that you will never be able to say (if you’re still waiting to shoot) is that you shot with us. Our timeless art will remain true and beautiful. Thank you and we apologize to those good customers who were actually reasonable but suffered any inconveniences during the process due to several hundred other rotten apples. In fact, this may be your first time visiting our site to book your shoot, and we are saddened by this because you’ve done nothing wrong. We wish we could have shot with you but now you’ll have to go and get your money back. We are far from a scam. We are real artists, with real feelings, who no longer wish to be like McDonalds after hundreds of bad experiences with voucher buyers. We blame ourselves for running the deals, the deal buying companies for having such a poor model for small businesses to succeed, and for people who habitually suck the blood out of these deals without consideration or decency for humanity.
